What to visit in Santa Margherita di Pula?
We cannot miss to mention the natural wonders of this area, starting with the white sandy beaches of Cistos, Stella Marina, Perla Marina or Riva dei Pini. The seaside area is separated from the town by a pine forest where to rest and to stay in the shade of the dense vegetation. The more athletics cannot miss a day surfing on the beach of Su Guventeddu, located in a bay which offers a favourable wind.
Near Santa Margherita di Pula, there is the archaeological site of Nora, dating from the VIII century BC. The old Roman theatre is still in use and there are still nuragic remains like the traditional funerary buildings called tophet.
Still in the historical theme, also in Nora, do not miss the magical panorama offered from the Torre del Coltellazzo, also called Sant’Efisio; located on a promontory, from The Tower, you overlook the archaeological site and with a gaze towards the horizon, you can see the Torre di Cala Ostia, del Diavolo and San Macario.
Wine and gastronomy
Obviously, the privileged location of Santa Margherita di Pula means that the local specialties are mostly based on fish and shellfish: from the spaghettis with sea urchins to the fregola with clams and also the cassola (a fish and shellfish soup).
The dishes with ingredients coming from the land are many and varied, as the malloreddus alla Campidanese, typical pasta from Sardinia prepared with a tomato sauce with pork.
Do not forget to enhance all these delicious flavours with a glass of Girò or Monica di Cagliari!

In Santa Margherita di Pula, the summer is punctuated by many events part of the Pula Dimensione Estate initiative. Music plays the leading role, with programs like La Strada della Musica, Canti e Balli di Sardegna, l’Isola della Musica and the wonderful International Nora Jazz Festival.
